COMMON MISTAKES CAT OWNERS MAKE

May 7, 2023

Today we will be talking about common mistakes cat owners make. You might have made one of these mistakes yourself so make sure to read till the end! Making these mistakes continuously might even cause stress in your pet.

The first common mistake cat owners make is that they don’t get their cats vaccinated. Not getting your cat vaccinated will make your cat more prone to viral diseases. They will continue to have a weak immune system and will get ill quickly. A kitten getting a viral infection will have a meager chance of surviving. Furthermore, if you haven’t vaccinated all your cats, one cat being ill will make them all sick.                                                                                                                                                                                              The second mistake owners make is not getting deworming done. Deworming is essential if your cat suffers from a hair fall problem.

If your cat has blood in its stool, then deworming needs to be done immediately. What is deworming, you may ask? Simply put, Deworming is medicine for parasites in your kitty’s stomach. You can consult your vet for deworming and vaccination.

The third mistake a lot of owners make is free feeding. Free feeding is when you provide your cat with food 24/7. You feed them a lot, and so they become lazy. Free feeding changes behaviors in cats. It can cause many problems. Make a schedule and follow it!

Whilst we are on the topic, another familiar mistake owners make is switching food around instantly. For example, from dry to wet food or vice versa. This can cause diarrhea, and your cat will fall ill. There isn’t any problem with the food itself but with the way you introduce it to your kitty.

Another mistake owners make is taking kittens away from their parents too early! Some people buy kittens when they are only 25 to 30 days old! Never buy or adopt a kitten that’s less than 2 months of age. Newborn kittens need to be adequately fed by their mother.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                The fifth mistake people make is only giving dry food to their cats and not providing them with chicken. If you do this, your cat may face kidney/liver problems when it turns 2 or 3 years old. Many other issues can also occur. When you do start giving them chicken, it will be too late and your cats won’t eat it because they’ll be way too addicted to dry food.

Try to give your cat at least one piece of chicken a day. You MUST add chicken to your cat’s diet. A cat that eats everything will have more chance of living longer than one that only eats a specific type of cat food. I really hope you guys understand whatever I say. Don’t make these mistakes again!!
